Economic Region
An expanding economic region
With a surface area of 4751 km2 Ludwigslust-Parchim is the second largest rural district in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It was formed from the former rural districts of Ludwigslust and Parchim after local government reorganisation.
The strategically favourable location between Hamburg and Berlin, access to the A24 and A14 motorways and ICE links to the Copenhagen-Hamburg-Berlin-Vienna route are just some of its unique locational advantages. More than 50 commercial parks, most of which are fully developed, and a markedly investor-friendly economic climate combined with a high quality of living offer investors excellent start-up and development conditions.
A modern administration committed to an effective reduction of bureaucracy which has placed responsible entrepreneurial thinking at the centre of its economic policy offers quick and uncomplicated procedures and fast decisions which are of the utmost importance for a successful economy.
Businesspeople have long since recognised the advantages of our region. We can report a constant growth of requests from potential investors. The high number of companies already located in our region and the fact that with an unemployment rate of 8.3% (as of December 2011) we can boast the best results in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern speak for themselves.
